“We are delighted to showcase the talents of the Neave Trio. The Triple Concerto not only requires intricate teamwork and virtuoso musicianship by the violinist, cellist and pianist, but also between the trio and the entire orchestra. The result is a thrilling roller-coaster ride of energy and emotion.”

The concert begins with Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture which has been described as vividly portraying the conflict between war and the alternative of compassion and peace. One critic observed the overture contains sounds of violence and conquest contrasted with themes of tenderness and lamentation.
After the Coriolan Overture, the orchestra will present Coleridge-Taylor's gripping Variations on an African Air, which is a theme and variations largely drawing melodic content from the spiritual I'm Troubled in Mind. He was one of the most accomplished composers of the turn of the 20th century, and celebrates his 150th birthday in 2025.
Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for violin, cello and piano is the only concerto he wrote for three solo instruments and the only concerto he wrote for cello. Highly regarded for its dramatic breadth and intrinsic beauty, the work uniquely blends concerto style with symphonic structure to produce a stunning masterpiece.
