Bach to Beatles

CHAMBER MUSIC REIMAGINED

BACH AND THE BEATLES GO FOR BAROQUE

The Northern Neck Orchestra presents Bach to Beatles, a concert of chamber music reimagined for string quartet, featuring compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

The playlist includes Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Art of the Fugue as well as Lennon and McCartney’s I Want to Hold Your Hand, Eleanor Rigby, Blackbird, Yesterday and more.

The music will be performed by Northern Neck Orchestra Concertmaster and Principal Violinist Moises Cunha, violinist Elizabeth Crute Cunha, cellist Jake Fowler and violist Alexander Smith.

Mixing the works of Bach with songs by the Beatles
is not unusual, as many of the Beatles’ melodies beautifully
lend themselves to arrangements in Bach’s Baroque style.
And no wonder: Paul McCartney once said that Bach always
was one of the Beatles favorite composers.
— Moises Cunha, Concertmaster and Principal Violinist
