The Northern Neck Orchestra’s 2023-2024 Chamber Music Series will feature trios for clarinet, piano quartets by Schumann and Brahms, a performance of Bach’s six suites for solo cello in two parts, and new music for voice and string quartet.
The chamber music series will highlight the dazzling skills of world-class musicians performing both classic works and new compositions.

Clarinet Trios – September 10, 2023
The chamber music series will open on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road in Kilmarnock, with “Clarinet Trios” featuring Aram Khachaturian’s Trio for Violin Clarinet and Piano, Igor Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du soldat, Darius Milhaud’s Suite for Violin, Clarinet and Piano and Paul Schoenfield’s Trio for Violin, Clarinet and Piano.
The concert will be performed by Moises Cunha, violin, Iura de Rezende, clarinet, and André Golbert, piano.
Piano Quartets by Schumann and Brahms – November 5, 2023
The series continues with Piano Quartets on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Good Luck Cellars, featuring William Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E flat Major and Johannes Brahm’s Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor.
Performers include Moises Cunha, violin, Luis Bellorin, viola, Jake Fowler, cello, and André Golbert, piano.
Cello Suites by Bach Parts One and Two
February 3 and February 4, 2024
Cellist Jake Fowler will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Complete Suites for Solo Cello in two parts at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 S. Main St. in Kilmarnock. Part One of the six suites will be performed on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. with Part Two performed on Sunday, February 4 at 2 p.m.
Quartets for Voice and Strings – April 14, 2024
The final concert of the series “Quartets for Voice and Strings” on Sunday April 14, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Good Luck Cellars will showcase music by contemporary composers, including A Woman’s Song and Advice to a Girl by Anne Cawrse, Plan and Elevation for String Quartet by Caroline Shaw and The Paper Lined Shack for Voice and String Quartet by Jeff Beal.
The musicians include Natalie Vatcher, soprano, Moises Cunha, violin, Elizabeth Almond Crute Cunha, violin, Catherine Matushek, viola, and Jake Fowler cello.
Concertgoers can purchase a season subscription for the entire five concert series or buy single tickets for each performance.
Season tickets are $132 and single tickets are $35. Please note that Bach’s Complete Suites for Solo Cello will be performed in two parts. Single tickets for each of these concerts are $30.
