The Northern Neck Orchestra is a professional orchestra performing on the beautiful Northern Neck of Virginia, a historic peninsula located near both the Richmond, Virginia and Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas.
Led by Grammy Award-winning Music Director Michael Repper, the Orchestra presents a full season of diverse orchestral programming featuring prize-winning guest soloists. The flourishing ensemble has become one of the finest regional professional orchestras in Virginia, exciting its growing audience and attracting talented musicians from throughout the nation. The Orchestra offers a wide range of symphonic music and regularly performs before a capacity audience. It also is committed to broad engagement with the community and supports music education programs throughout the area. The Orchestra also presents a Chamber Music Series curated by Moises Cunha, the Orchestra's Concertmaster, Principal Violinist and Artist in Residence. He also is Artistic Director of Northern Neck Chamberfest, which provides a week of professional instruction and performances by students as well as chamber concerts by its faculty of internationally-recognized musicians. Initially established in 1991 as a community orchestra, the ensemble is now comprised nearly entirely of professional musicians. Its doors continue to remain open to amateur musicians, living in the local area, who may wish to audition for the Orchestra. The Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) corporation managed by its Board of Directors with operational support provided by volunteers.
